About George Bennett
After studying for a BA Arts degree George attended the “Bellas Artes” Academy of Fine Art in Cuenca, Spain before later training as a Professional Chef at the renowned Westminster Kingsway in London.
He began his professional career at the “Electric Club” (Soho House) in Notting Hill, and later went on to work for other, well known, establishments such as several sites at Caprice Holdings including Celebrity favourite “Scotts” in Mayfair and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in Cornwall. He spent several Years as a Private Chef and has cooked for Royalty and numerous A-List Celebrities, both here and abroad.
George set up Jorge Artisan foods in 2014 and now runs the business full time as well as catering for Private Clients and events and various consultancy projects. He has worked with various companies to develop their own range of deli style products, including a range of exciting fruit jams for “Makers and Merchants”.
George has lived and worked abroad and travelled extensively, (including to Namibia/Africa, The US, Croatia, Bosnia, Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Iceland) drawing inspiration for his business and his food from the different places, cultures and people he encounters along the way.
He enjoys working closely with the Best Artisan Producers, growers and chefs and has a close friendship with many of those involved with the business. In 2015 he was invited to take part in The Fancy Food show in New York where his recipes were greatly received.
In September 2018 George opened his first shop at the newly renovated Engine Yard at Belvoir Castle. He is currently working on expanding the range of products available in the “Jorge” collection.
